Adventures movies

The ‘City of Brotherly Love’ is one of the most happening cities in the country for singles thanks to Events and Adventures. Want to know why singles have more fun in Philadelphia? Look at some of the hot events on calendar and in store for members during the month of January 2011 this review hits some of the highlights.

Members of Events and Adventures Philadelphia got in touch with our green side and up close and personal with Thousands of poinsettias accented with amaryllis, Artemisia, begonias, cyclamen, hybrid lilies, kalanchoes, paperwhites, red berried plants and many other flowers flourish inside acres of heated glass conservatories at Longwood Gardens. Our sporting members in the club have plans for a dog sledding adventures while a few others got in touch with our philanthropic selves and went for a night of Drag Queen Bingo to raise money for a local Aids/HIV group.

At least once per month we members treat ourselves to a champagne brunch complete with Belgian waffles and even a chocolate fountain. Feeling better about ourselves for helping others, we plan to treat ourselves to a Champagne Brunch over the weekend. Events and Adventures members do not have to overly concerned about their figures because there are more than a few events to burn off those calories we consume such as an introductory fencing lesson, indoor rock climbing, and an adults only roller-skating Saturday night just like when we were kids. Incidentally, no one under 18 years of age is allowed to attend during our adults only events.

Adventures movies

Plot

It is the last day of the school year for Goofy’s (voiced by Bill Farmer) teenaged son Max (voiced by Jason Marsden), who has a plan to shed his “Goof” label and impress his crush, Roxanne (voiced by Kellie Martin). Max and his two friends PJ (voiced by Rob Paulsen) and Bobby (voiced by Pauly Shore) hijack the auditorium stage in the middle of Principal Mazur’s (voiced by Wallace Shawn) speech, creating a small concert where Max performs while costumed as Powerline (voiced by Tevin Campbell), a famous pop superstar. The performance succeeds in making Max a school celebrity, but Mazur stops the music and the trio of friends are sent to his office. Roxanne speaks with Max and agrees to go with him to a party where Powerline’s concert will be aired live, but Mazur telephones Goofy and forewarns him that Max may end up with a criminal record and face capital punishment on an electric chair.

In desperation, Goofy decides to take Max on a fishing trip to Lake Destiny, Idaho, following a map route he and his father took years ago.

Classic Aussie movies

Adventures movies

In a Hollywood dominated entertainment industry, there are a few Australian classics that truly define Aussie culture and have spoken to audiences at home and abroad. These classic Australian movies showcase the Australian character, humour and spirit and produced some of the most repeated and classic movie quotes. Sure, they’re also responsible for propelling a few Aussie stereotypes, but we love them none-the-less! Here are a few of the favourites.

- Crocodile Dundee 1986- This Australian comedy is responsible for spawning many Australian stereotypes, and achieved its aim of being an Aussie film that appealed to American audiences. Set between the Outback and New York City, it tells the tale of a New York girl falling for an Aussie bloke. Paul Hogan’s Aussie accent and his one-liners such as ‘That’s not a knife…Now that’s a knife’ have become part of popular Aussie vernacular, and helped make it the number one box office film of 1986.

- The Castle 1997 – this Aussie comedy was made on a budget of ,000 but is still one of the most popular Australian films of all time.

The film centres on the Kerrigan family and their modest lifestyle, and their fight against the acquisition of their home to expand neighbouring Melbourne Airport. The case eventually goes against the High Court of Australia, and is a tale of the little man standing up to the corporate giants. The humour of the film plays on the self image of Australians – particularly modest working class families. The title is reference to the saying that ‘a man’s home is his castle’, which is true of the house proud Kerrigans. Some of the classic lines include ‘Tell him his dreaming’ and ‘Dale dug a hole’.

Best Musical Movies

Adventures movies

Here are three of the best movies in the genre of musicals ever made.

Sound of Music (1965)
For musical lovers, this is probably one of the best movies you can find. It is about a failing nun, Maria who is hired to take care of the seven mischievous Von Trapp children, who simply gives a hard time for the nannies who has cared for them. It is soon that she finds out that all they want is love from their father, Captain Von Trapp, a retired naval captain and widower, who is only reminded of his late wife when he sees them. She teaches them to sing and appreciate music, and their behavior betters. In the meantime, Maria and Captain Von Trapp fall in love with one another. The problem is that Maria is a servant of God, and Captain Von Trapp is engaged! The songs in this movie are some of the most memorable, like Sound of Music, Do-Re-Mi, My Favorite Things, and Edelweiss.

Mary Poppins (1964)
A cold banker, Mr Banks has a tough time looking for a nanny that will stay to take care of his mischievous son and daughter. The children having written an impossible advertisement for a perfect nanny, is only shun by their father who tears the advertisement up. Blown by the wind and into the hands of a magical lady with the exact requirements, Mary Poppins requests for the job as the childrens nanny. They learn to enjoy the company of her. When Mr Banks loses his job at the bank, a series of adventure and misadventure happens for the Banks family, eventually changing them for the better. Soundtracks like A Spoonful of Sugar, Chim Chim Cher-ee, and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious will sure to stick to your head.
