I can’t believe I actually waited a whole week before checking out Robert Rodriguez’s smash hit Machete. This 100% adrenaline rush of entertainment should have made the cover of the New York Times, Boston Globe and Rolling Stone. Anyone who does not give this movie at least 4 Stars has no idea whatsoever about great movies. Machete makes Danny Trejo look like Elvis. If anyone can make an average person look like the hottest thing since sliced bread, it is Robert Rodriguez. An all-star cast headed up this film with actors like Robert DeNiro, Jessica Alba, Don Johnson, Cheech Marin, Steven Seagal and of course, the actress with the same name as me, Michelle Rodriguez.

Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba and Lindsay Lohan could never look as hot as they did in this movie. Talk about power houses, stacked with great bodies and kick-a** style. Some actors who are seen as mediocre found their niche as their characters in Machete. Forget about Miami Vice for Don Johnson. I didn’t even recognize him until half way through the movie! Sporting sunglasses, a cowboy hat and lamb chops you would never guess this was the same person who wore pastel shirts and loafers. Johnson plays a sheriff hell-bent on taking out any Mexicans that attempt to cross the border into Texas illegally. DeNiro, that’s right Robert DeNiro, is the crooked politician trying to get into office and win over the hearts of Texas folk by demanding that he would stop the leak of illegal immigrants crossing the border.  Read more...

I have always loved this movie despite wat critics are saying. Cage is one cool rider.

nicolas cage was not bad but not very good either. the script was horrible so i dont blame him. as a fan of the comic i noticed they ran the two original stories together to make one. for a horror action film the scariest character was the hero and his foe was satan! or mephistopheles. who by the way was a human in an over coat. the action was few and far in between. the special effects were awesome though. i dont necessarily recommend it but wouldnt say no to watching it either. i could use the nap

Well this movie was really good, however the bad guys died way to easily and i really cant stand nicholas cage but on top of all that ghost rider kicked arse, the acting is meh, the actions is pretty good and the special effects rock. watch this movie its pretty awesome.

I work in a movie theatre, and alot of people came to see Ghost Rider, and they left either pumped or dissapointed. I saw the film and thought the story line was great and the humor even funnie, but I hated the fact that almost 80% of the film was computer animated. Nicolas Cage is a great actor, and I love his movies, but this film barely makes the great Nicolas Cage movie catagory.  Read more...

Liam Neeson leads an elite commando unit found guilty of a crime they didn’t commit in “The A-Team,” the testosterone-fueled reboot of the 80s television series of the same name.

Writer/director Joe Carnahan wisely avoids a self-serious tone that would have made a movie about four living action figures unintentionally funny and instead fills “The A-Team” with enough self-awareness and confidence for two movies. While “The A-Team” edges dangerously close to smug territory, there’s enough seriousness during the tensely directed action segments to keep the characters and the movie on the right side of the line.

The indestructibility and unflappable confidence of the characters serves as a nod, not just to the original series, but 80s action movies as a whole. No one ever legitimately worried about whether Hanibal and the boys were going to escape whatever life-threatening situation they found themselves in, just like no one ever worried about whether Sylvester Stallone was going to make it out of “Rocky IV” or if Arnold Schwarzenegger was going to survive “The Running Man.”

Instead, the focus is appropriately placed on the team’s ridiculous plans and the surgical execution that goes into seeing them through. It’s unfair (not to mention too easy) to compare “The A-Team” to “The Losers,” but the action, scale, and scope of The A-Team’s exploits stand head and shoulders above anything that happened in that other buddy movie about a bunch of soldiers wrongfully accused.  Read more...

If quot;The Losersquot; was intended to be a deep, serious, action film it would be a complete failure. But it never pretends or claims to be. It’s simply a witty, sometimes corny, action-packed good time.

It’s not hard to tell that the movie is a comic book adaptation due to it’s cool stylized camera work, over-the-top action sequences, and slick dialogue. While there are a couple of scenes that don’t really make sense or have little to offer to the plot, overall it is a tight, well written story. Yes, it uses a few action movie cliches but in a way that’s the point. It’s intended to be an exaggerated, over-the-top, entertaining popcorn film. There are no false pretenses with quot;The Losersquot;.

The movie features some good, fitting performances and it’s especially good to see Jason Patric doing well in a bigger role.

If you know what to expect from quot;The Losersquot;, you’ll find a humorous and fun film. It has it’s flaws but it’s entertainment value helps me to easily overlook them.

If you grew up on a steady diet of action movies, if your bones hardened every time a muscle-bound guy dove away from an explosion in slow motion, if you hit puberty the first time you saw the hero of the hour bed his scantily clad damsel in distress, then it’s impossible to resist the allure of a movie like The Expendables. It’s the superband version of an action movie. It was created by an action star, its cast consists almost exclusively of action stars, and the only reason it exists is to put a smile on the face of action fans. And invariably it will do just that.

The question is how wide one’s smile will be. The answer depends on how forgiving one is willing to be of The Expendables’ faults, and there are many. It’s a little slow-going at first, the characters are very thinly defined, some of the acting is spotty, and on the production front, Sylvester Stallone’s knack for action scenes is thrown under the bus by a ton of visual shortcuts (CGI blood being perhaps the most egregious) that belie the film’s obvious low budget. That said, Stallone’s knack for gory, ultraviolent action is indeed so strong, his mind so tuned to the quirks and cliches that make action movies beloved despite their faults, that The Expendables kicks more than enough ass by the time credits roll to be worthwhile beyond just the novelty of seeing Stallone, Statham, Li, Lundgren, Austin, Rourke, Couture, Crews, Willis and Schwarzenegger all under one explosion-filled roof.  Read more...
